What Is AI Photo Sorting? (Face Search, Culling & FaceLock Explained)

AI photo sorting is software that looks at your event photos and automatically groups them by the person in each shot so every guest gets only the pictures they are in. Instead of scrolling through thousands of images by hand, you let the computer do the sorting in minutes.

What is AI photo sorting?

AI photo sorting uses face recognition to "see" who is in each photo. It scans every image, finds the faces, and puts all the photos of the same person together. For a photographer, that means a 5,000-photo wedding can be split into a neat, personal gallery for each guest without dragging files into folders one by one.

The 4-step AI photo sorting workflow: upload photos, AI scans faces, photos grouped by person, each guest gets a private gallery
How AI photo sorting works, step by step: upload → scan faces → group by person → deliver.

How does it work? (the simple version)

You don't need to understand the tech to use it. Here is the whole process:

  • Upload your photos from the event.
  • The AI scans the faces in every photo and works out who is who.
  • Photos get grouped by person automatically.
  • Each guest gets their own private gallery with just their photos.

What used to take a full weekend of sorting now happens in minutes.

Culling vs. sorting: what's the difference?

People mix these two up, so here is the plain difference:

  • Culling means removing the bad photos the blurry ones, the blinks, and the near-identical duplicates. It trims your pile down to the keepers.
  • Sorting means organizing the keepers grouping them by the person in each photo so they are easy to deliver.

Culling asks "is this a good photo?" Sorting asks "who is in this photo?" Lenzeit does both, then delivers each gallery for you.

What is face search?

Face search lets a guest find their own photos by taking a quick selfie. The system compares their face to everyone in the gallery and instantly shows only the pictures they appear in no scrolling through thousands of strangers' photos. It is the same idea as AI sorting, but this time the guest starts the search themselves.

What is MagicSort™?

MagicSort™ is Lenzeit's AI sorting engine. It is the part that does the heavy lifting scanning faces, grouping photos by person, and surfacing the sharpest shots so thousands of event photos are sorted in minutes. Learn more about MagicSort.

What is FaceLock™?

FaceLock™ is Lenzeit's privacy control. It lets the event owner "lock" certain faces so those photos are never shared with anyone else. Guests only ever see the photos they are in, and locked images stay private. See how FaceLock keeps photos private.

Is AI photo sorting accurate and safe?

Modern face recognition is very good, even in crowds and tricky lighting but you stay in control. The AI makes the first pass, and you can review or change anything before it goes out. On privacy: photos are stored securely, only the right people can open a gallery (by selfie or access code), and images are deleted after the event ends.

Who uses AI photo sorting?

  • Wedding photographers deliver personal guest galleries the same day.
  • Sports and marathon shooters help runners find themselves in a huge crowd.
  • Tour operators and travel brands send each traveler their own photos.
  • Schools and corporate events sort by student or attendee automatically.
